What is Pingo?
Pingo is an Android network toolkit for technicians and home users. It combines a network scanner, a Wi-Fi analyzer, a speed test, a security audit and guided diagnosis in a single app, with dozens of tools in total.
What makes Pingo different from other network scanner apps?
Three things. It is a full technician toolkit rather than a single-purpose scanner, so it replaces the handful of separate apps most technicians carry. It includes a security audit layer that scans for exposure, default credentials, UPnP forwards and VLAN isolation failures, which general network scanners do not. And it does not limit how often you scan.
Which apps does Pingo replace?
A Wi-Fi analyzer, a network scanner, a speed test app, a ping and traceroute tool, a port scanner, a DNS and WHOIS lookup tool, an SSH and SFTP client, a subnet calculator and a security audit tool. That is nine separate apps in one.
Does Pingo limit how many scans I can run?
No. Scanning is unlimited and free. Several apps in this category cap free scans per day; Pingo does not.
Can Pingo audit network security?
Yes. It checks for exposed admin and RDP ports, devices still on factory default passwords, open file shares, UPnP port forwards, cameras streaming with no login, whether firewall and DNS filtering actually block anything, and whether a guest network is genuinely isolated from the main one.
Does Pingo have guided troubleshooting?
Yes. Guided diagnosis works through a named sequence of checks, then leads with one verdict word and one plain sentence, with the measurements it was derived from one tap away. A check that could not run is hatched rather than passed. It runs on the device.
Is Pingo free?
Yes. Pingo is free, with no advertising, no account and no scan limits.
Why does Pingo need location permission?
Android does not return Wi-Fi scan results to any app that does not hold the location permission. That is an operating system requirement, not a choice. Pingo uses it only to read Wi-Fi scan results and signal information, never requests background location, and does not collect or transmit your location.
Does Pingo work without an internet connection?
Yes for anything on the local network, including device discovery, ping, port scanning and Wi-Fi analysis. Tools that query public services need a connection.
